After playing to a low scoring 25-17 Stout halftime lead, Stout's defense came to work to hold Bethany (0-6) down and the Stout (5-3) offense started to heat up.
After shooting a paltry 25 percent in the first half (8-of-32), Stout nailed down 54 percent (15-of-28) of their second half shots. Luke Loney scored all nine of his points in the first half to keep Stout on top.
On the evening, Stout got 10 points each from Kailus Coleman and Ryan Stangl. Coleman scored eight points in the second half and Stangl six points after the break.
Brian Buck (and Terry Farmer were chairmen of the boards as Stout controlled the rebound game with a 56-30 bulge. Buck pulled down eight boards, while Farmer finished with 12.
The winless Vikings led through the first 10 minutes of the game. Once Stout took the lead at 16-15 with eight minutes remaining in the first half, they never trailed.
The much smaller Vikings stayed a pesky lot, pecking away at the lead, and getting as close as 36-33 with 13 minutes remaining in the game. It was all over after that as Stout went on a 12-3 run over the next five minutes to lock up the game.
Bethany's Dewan Grant led all scores with 13 points and Rusty Allison had 11.
