After the break the two team exchanged scores, before the first of two ties in the second half, 42-42 (17:58) as the Lions erased an early four-point Yellow Jacket lead (42-38, 18:50). TCNJ would break the 44-44 tie on a jumper by senior guard Kyle Burke (Maywood, NJ/Hackensack) and would extend their lead to as many as 12 points, up 76-64 (3:24).
Findlay, who added 16 points in the first half, netted 35 points in the contest, surpassing his previous high of 22 which he had hit twice during his career. Burke, who was recognized before the contest for adding his name to TCNJ’s 1,000 point list a week ago after becoming the 19th male player in TCNJ history to score his 1,000 career point. He now has 1,050 career points and is ranked 15th all-time at TCNJ.
TCNJ’s senior guard Derick Grant (Belle Mead, NJ/Montgomery) netted 16 points in the victory, including a 10-11 effort from the free throw line. Grant, the NJAC’s Player of the Week for December 13, now has 1,194 career points and is the College’s 10th all-time leading scorer.
NYCCT got a balanced scoring output for the game as the entire starting lineup finished in double-digits, including a double-double from Malave, who finished with 19 points and 11 blocked shots.
