New York University 82, Haverford 51

NEW YORK — The New York University men's basketball team improved to 6-1 this season and recorded its fifth straight win with an 82-51 victory over Haverford College on Saturday, December 11, at the Coles Sports & Recreation Center in Manhattan.

NYU scored the first seven points of the game and never trailed in the contest.

The Violets' Jason Boone scored 11 first-half points as NYU raced to a 37-27 lead at the intermission.

NYU's Jimmy Janeczek opened the second-half scoring with a three-pointer, and the Violets maintained a double-digit lead the rest of the way. The 31-point final margin marked NYU's largest lead of the contest.

Janeczek connected on 8-10 shots from the field, 7-9 from three-point range, and finished with a game-high 23 points. Boone finished with 15 points, while Jeff Gilkerson contributed a "double-double" with 15 points and a game-high 14 rebounds.

Mark Gabriel led Haverford (1-6) with 10 points.

For the game, the Violets shot 54.1% (33-61) from the field, while holding the Fords to 33.3% (16-48) shooting.
