Maryville (Mo.) 96, St. Louis Pharmacy 65

ST. LOUIS, Mo. — Junior Ben Hebl and freshman Casey Holland combined for 30 points and 18 rebounds in the Maryville University men's basketball home opener versus St. Louis College of Pharmacy. The Saints improve to 2-6 overall with the convincing 96-65 victory, while the Eutectics drop to 1-10 on the season.
Maryville jumped out to an early lead and led by double digits just five minutes into the game. The Saints took advantage of 18 turnovers in the first half and finished 27-45 (.600) from the floor and 8-18 (.444) from behind the arc. Hebl would tally 10 of his game-high 23 points in the final 3:50, helping give the Saints a 35 point lead heading into halftime.
In the second half, Maryville let their lead dwindle to only 25 points and finished the game on a 10-2 run. The Saints finished 37-84 (.440) from the field, 13-38 (.342) from three-point range and 9-10 (.900) from the charity stripe. They also outrebounded their opponents by a margin of 21 and forced 24 turnovers.
Hebl would finish with 23 points on 9-13 (.692) shooting from the field and 5-8 (.625) from behind the arc. Holland led the Saints on the glass with a game-high 17 rebounds. He also added seven points, three assists and one steal.
Head coach Matt Rogers received an excellent effort from his starting five. Senior Marcus Henderson tallied 13 points, seven rebounds and two assists, while junior Ryan Klein also scored 13 points, dished out five assists and grabbed three rebounds.
Sophomore Jason Rezabek recorded 10 points, three rebounds and one block, while junior Matt Regan chipped in with six rebounds, four points, three steals and three assists. Junior and starting point guard Tim Elwell dished out a game-high seven assists in the victory.
Freshman Mike Turpen was the only other non-starter besides Hebl to score in double figures. He added 11 points in 14 minutes played.
The Eutectics were led by Jake Knepp with 21 points, while Justin Tauser, Matt Buschjost and Michael Sieg scored 14, 12 and 12 points respectively. Buschjost also added a team-high 13 rebounds to record the double-double.
The Saints will be back in action on Thursday, December 16, when they travel to Columbia, MO, to take on Columbia College in a 7:00 pm non-conference matchup.
