Lasell 74, Elms 71

NEWTON, Ma. — Elms College sophomore guard John Ancrum (Harlem, NY) netted a season-high 24 points, but host Lasell College held off a furious second half rally by the Blazers to earn a 74-71 win in Saturday afternoon’s North Atlantic Conference (NAC) men’s basketball game at Newton.

The Blazers trailed 40-35 at intermission, but fought their way back thanks to its defense, which limited the Lasers to just 32.3-percent shooting in the second half.

Senior guard Kyle Seyboth (Seekonk, MA) had 13 points, including three 3-pointers for the Blazers, who lost their second straight game to fall to 5-3 overall, 2-1 NAC.

Sophomore guard Maxwell Perez (Holyoke, MA) scored a team-high 21 points as one of three Lasell (5-4 overall, 3-0 NAC) players to reach double figures in the victory.

Elms College returns to action on Saturday, January 8 when it hosts UMaine-Farmington in a North Atlantic Conference game. Tip-off is 5:00 p.m.
