Grand View 80, Central 61

DES MOINES, Iowa — DES MOINES—Grand View’s Nate Tigges rained in 30 points as the Central College men’s basketball team was tripped on the road in non-conference action Saturday, 80-61.

Tigges hit 11 of 21 shots and was 8 of 9 from the free throw line for the Vikings, who took a 38-31 halftime lead and slowly pulled away in the second half. Todd Lorensen added 19 points.

Central center Clint Driftmier had 16 points and five rebounds. Forward Keith Pedersen hit 5-of-6 shots and had 10 points. The Dutch (2-4) shot 47.2 percent from the floor and were outrebounded, 31-30.

Following a break for fall semester final exams this week, the Dutch return to action next Saturday, playing host to MacMurray College (Ill.) in a non-conference contest. Game time is 3 p.m. at Kuyper Gym.

Central is then off until after Christmas when the squad journeys to Thousand Oaks, Calif. for the Cal Lutheran Invitational Dec. 29-30.
