Skidmore knotted the score at 32 heading into the half after trailing by as much as 11 in the first. The Tartans led by 10 with 8:33 to play in the game off of senior Michael Divens’ (Trafford, PA/Penn Trafford) jumper putting them up 63-53. The Thoroughbreds would not be able to draw any closer as the Tartans went on to the 79-69 victory.
The Tartans had four players in double figures; junior Clayton Barlow-Wilcox (Brookline, MA/Brookline) led all Tartan scorers with 16 points and pulled in eight rebounds. Divens finished with 15 points and pulled in a career high 13 rebounds. Senior Eliot Goren (Silver Spring, MD/Bullis School) had 14 and junior transfer Nate Maurer (Pittsburgh, PA/Linsley School) added 11.
The Tartans shot 49.2% for the game to the Thoroughbreds 34.8%. Carnegie Mellon also led the way on the glass hauling in 52 boards as Skidmore grabbed 38.
The Tartans will be back in action Sunday, December 12 as they play host to Union. Tip is set for 3:00 pm.
