SUNY BROCKPORT MEN'S BASKETBALL DEFEATS HAMILTON
Bellucci scores 16, five players in double fitures
BROCKPORT, N.Y. -- Ben Bellucci (Syracuse/Cicero North Syracuse) scored 16 points and four other players scored in double figures to lead SUNY Brockport to an 82-70 triumph over Hamilton in a non-league men's basketball game Saturday night.
The Golden Eagles improved to 4-3 while Hamilton fell to 4-3.
Bellucci, who has led the team in scoring in all seven games this season, was 10 of 11 from the line, and made seven free throws in the final 2:08 for Brockport. Kellan Skrine (Henrietta/Rush-Henrietta) added 14 points and joined Bellucci with six rebounds each. Brandon Williams (Rochester/Edison), Bryan Boswell (Amherst/Sweet Home) and Kenny Amparo (Yonkers/Groton) scored 10 points each for the Golden Eagles. Amparo had a team-high seven rebounds.
Nick Jones (Washington, DC) led the Continentals with a game-high 21 points, while Giorgi Chavleishvilli (Tbilisi, Georgia/St. Anne Belfield) scored 10 points with seven rebounds. Tsakane Ngobeni (Soweto, South Africa) also scored 10 points for the visitors.
Brockport shot 45% for the night while Hamilton was 44% from the floor, 52% in the second half. The Golden Eagles had a 37-29 lead at halftime and never trailed in the contest. Hamilton pulled to within three at 43-40 with 16:48 left in the second half, but the Golden Eagles went on a 14-2 run in 5:43 for a 57-42 lead with 11:05 to play. Brockport led by as many as 20 at 69-49 with 7:27 left in the second half. The Golden Eagles had a 43-33 rebounding advantage on the night.
SUNY Brockport is idle until January 5, when the Golden Eagles host St. Lawrence at 7 p.m.
