Hope (7-1) got off to a hot start, jumping out to a 14-3 lead just more than five minutes into the game. The Flying Dutch made 10 of their first 13 shots from the field and held their biggest lead (27-11) of the half with less than eight minutes to go in the first stanza.
Benedictine (2-4) rebounded with a 12-1 run to cut its deficit to 28-23. Misty Nguyen buried a pair of 3-pointers in the run, including one that capped the spurt. Hope scored 10 of the next 12 points to build its lead back to 13 (38-25), but Jennison Cox scored five points in the final 2:22, including a trey just before the break, to get the Eagles to within 39-32 at the half.
Hope came out of the locker room after the break and took control of the game within five minutes, outscoring Benedictine by a 20-6 count to build its lead to 59-38 with just under 15 minutes remaining. The Flying Dutch built their lead to as many as 29 points before settling for the 23-point win.
Curtis and Amanda Burditt each scored 14 points to pace Benedictine in the loss. Curtis made 5-of-11 shots from the field and all four of her free throws, and added a team-high six boards.
Hope, which made 32-of-59 shots (.542) from the floor in the win, put three players - Linda Ebels (14), Adelynn Vilmann (11) and Sarah Jurik (10) - in double figures. Ebels hit all six of her shots from the field.
Benedictine did manage to force 22 Hope turnovers, the sixth time in as many games this season it's harassed opponents into at least 20 miscues. Katie Kunkel came up with a game-high five steals for Benedictine.
The Eagles will enjoy a week off from competition before hosting Elmhurst College on Dec. 18.
