SUNY Potsdam Men Complete Six Wins in a Row
Bears Prevail 95--79 Over Alfred Saxons
(Potsdam) The SUNY Potsdam Bears extended their record to 6-0 Friday night as they downed the visiting Alfred Saxons by a score of 95-79 in non-league men’s basketball competition. The Bears move to a perfect 6-0 while Alfred drops to 4-3.
The Bears used a balanced scoring attack and a stellar shooting performance to defeat Alfred. Potsdam shot 47% for the game and from three point range. Leading the Bears in scoring was Michael Brooks (Utica/Mohawk Valley CC) with 18 points on 8-13 shooting. Ernst Ducena (Brooklyn/Midwood) and Edane Barton (Spring Valley/Colgate University) each finished with 16 points. Eldon Harris (Albany/Albany High) recorded a double-double with 13 points and 12 boards.
Leading Alfred was Quentin Bryant (Buffalo/Seneca Vocational) with 24 points. Rob McCarter (Wooster OH/Wooster) added 15 in the loss.
The Bears are currently 18th in the latest national NCAA division 3 rankings. They hope to improve that when they take the court tomorrow against visiting Ithaca at 4pm.
