Mississippi College 104, Carver Bible 53

CLINTON, MS — Mississippi College set a new school record with 13 made three-pointers in a 103-54 blowout win over an overmatched Carver Bible College in their final home game of the fall semester.
The Choctaws attempted 29 three pointers, matching the school record set against Pacific Lutheran in 2002. David Doty and Orlando Lewis led the way with three made three-pointers apiece. Cary Plummer and Cedric Armstrong each finished with two.
Carver actually was down just 28-20 with eight minutes remaining in the first half before the Choctaws exploded and went on a 36-6 run to end the first half with a 64-26 lead.
Freshman forward Tyler Winford led MC in scoring with a career high 21 points on 7-11 shooting. Winford was also good on 7-10 free throws. Three other Choctaws registered double figure points with David Doty scoring 14, Orlando Lewis 13, and Cary Plummer 12.
Carver was led by Jeremy Russell's 16 points and eight rebounds. Russell only made 3-17 shots from the field, but made 10-15 free throw attempts. Nathaniel Canty scored ten points.
Carver struggled shooting just 26 percent from the field compared to a 52 percent effort from the Choctaws.
