The Lancers took a, 43-31, halftime lead as Connor scored all 12 of his first half points from behind the three-point arc shooting 4-5 from outside range. Worcester State had a, 30-29, lead with 4:41 remaining in the first half before closing with a 13-2 run getting three point baskets from Connor, Tom Sullivan (Auburn, MA) and Will Spont (Bellingham, MA).
Nichols was paced by Chris Vallee (Ashburnham, MA) with 8 first half points and Ron Powers (Millville, MA) who chipped in with 7.
The Lancers extended their lead to 19 points in the first five minutes of the second half with Cannon leading the way with 6 points in the run. Nichols slowly began to chip away at the lead and got the lead to as low as three points at, 70-67, with 1:10 remaining in the game on a Casey Butler (E. Longmeadow) three pointer. But the Lancers were able to regain control and hit their free throws as Nichols was forced to foul down the stretch.
Worcester State had four players reach double digits in scoring as along with Cannon and Conner, Sullivan finished with 11 and Ralph Frazier (Carver, MA) had 10.
Nichols was led by Butler who finished with 18 points and 7 boards. Vallee totaled 14 and Powers scored 11.
Worcester State has one game remaining on the schedule before the semester break as they will travel to Mt. Ida on Tuesday. Nichols College will be off until January.
