New York University 95, Manhattanville 47

NEW YORK — The New York University men`s basketball team won its fourth straight game, defeating Manhattanville College 95-47 on Thursday, December 9, at the Coles Sports Center in Manhattan.

It was the third straight game in which NYU scored at least 90 points, marking the the first time since the 1990-91 season that the Violets have accomplished that feat.

The Violets (5-1) shot 58% (40-69) from the field while limiting the Valiants to 26.8% shooting (15-56). NYU also out-rebounded Manhattanville 51-26 in the contest.

Jeff Gilkerson, who moved into 20th place on the team`s all-time scoring list with 1,023 career points, connected on 10-15 from the field and scored a game-high 20 points. He also recorded a game-high 10 rebounds.

NYU ran out to a 24-10 lead and extended their advantage to 52-26 at halftime.

The Valiants (4-4) scored the first two points of the second half, but that was as close as they got the rest of the way. The Violets extended their lead to as many as 49 points in the final stanza.

Jared Kildare added 11 points for NYU, as 14 different Violets scored. Chael Clark made all four of his field goals and finished with 10 points.

Jerry Fiefie and Rich Riss each had eight points for Manhattanville.
