Duncan’s fast start helped the Bison jump out to a 13-3 lead just 2:27 into the contest. Altoona scored four straight points to cut the lead to six (13-7), but Bethany took over thereafter and went on a 12-0 run over a span of 3:47 to put the game away. The Bison led by 20 (48-28) at the half and the lead swelled to as many as 27 in the second half.
Bethany spread the scoring out in the game, as nine players scored at least six points. Mike Drahos led the way with 14 points and 12 rebounds for his third double-double of the season. Matt Drahos added 12 points and six rebounds, while Jim Deep came off the bench to tally 11 points and two steals. Duncan finished with nine points, all coming in the first 1:37 of the game, along with a team-best six assists and four steals. Chris Stephens and Scott Mezyk each contributed eight points, while Mezyk also had four assists and three rebounds.
Rasheed Bey led the Lions with 15 points and eight rebounds.
Bethany was able to put the game away in the first half behind 65.5-percent (19-of-29) shooting. The squad shot 55.9-percent (33-of-59) from the field in the game, including 42.9-percent (9-of-21) accuracy from three-point range. Bethany has now shot over 50-percent from the field in four games this season.
Bethany will play the second of four consecutive home games on Saturday, Dec. 11, against La Roche at 4 p.m.
