Waynesburg 104, Mount Aloysius 99

WAYNESBURG, Pa. — Six Waynesburg College men's basketball players scored in double figures, as the Yellow Jackets defeated Mount Aloysius, 104-99, on Wednesday night. As a team, Waynesburg shot 50 percent (33 of 66) from the field for its highest single-game shooting percentage since February 2003. The 100-point game for the Jackets is the 101st in the 82-year history of the program.

Marc Lodovico led the Jackets for the second straight game with a new season-high of 22 points and eight assists. Lodovico made of 8-of-10 attempts from the free throw line, which was generous to WC all game.

The Jackets finished a combined 29 of 36 (80.6 percent) from the line compared to just 56.5 percent shot by the Mounties on 13-of-23 attempts.

Following Lodovico in the points column was sophomore Jeff Nero, who scored all 18 of his points in the second half on 7-of-9 attempts from the field. Nero also led the Jackets with nine rebounds.

The Mounties jumped out to a 12-4 lead and had as much as an eight point lead in the first half, when they were up 32-24 in the first half.

Sophomore point guard Beau Wilson hit one of his two three-pointers to make the score 32-27 and the Jackets subsequently went on a 25-12 run to take the game's largest lead of the night, 10 points, with 2:07 remaining in the first half.

Wilson finished with 12 points and had five assists in the win.

Freshman forward/center Josh Parisi also recorded 12 points and had eight rebounds, both career-highs, off the bench.

Parisi played 16 minutes off the bench in part because of the foul trouble of Shawn Coleman, who fouled out with 3:29 remaining in the game. Coleman finished the game with 13 points and eight rebounds.

Coleman and Parisi had their hands full with Mounties' forwards Justin Ohler and Deron Knox, who had 32 and 24 points, respectively. Ohler made 10 of 13 from the charity strip and finished with a game-high 10 rebounds.

The two teams combined for 12 ties and 16 lead changes.

Senior captain Ray Gillespie scored a season-high 11 points in the winning effort.

Waynesburg (2-4) travels to Huntingdon, Pa., on Saturday to face Juniata for a 7:30 p.m. start. The Jackets have a 7-3 lead in the all-time series against the Eagles, who feature eight freshmen and no seniors on their roster.
