HOBOKEN, N.J. — HOBOKEN, N.J. – Sophomore forward Tim Williams (Selden, N.Y./Newfield) led a balanced offensive attack with 11 points as Stevens Institute of Technology earned a 60-50 win over Drew University on Wednesday night in a non-conference men’s basketball game at the Canavan Arena.

Stevens ends its first semester at 3-4 – the most wins for a Stevens team in the first semester since the 2000-01 squad went 3-5 before the break. Drew falls to 2-4.

Following five lead changes at the beginning of the second half, Williams gave Stevens the lead for good, 32-31, with a layup at the 15:48 mark. Williams’ basket ignited an 11-1 run that turned a one-point deficit into a 41-32 Duck lead with 12:27 left. Five different players scored for Stevens during that stretch with junior guard Jimmy Dominkewicz (Orchard Park, N.Y./Orchard Park) and freshman guard Dennis Munch (West Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon) each connecting on a 3-pointer.

Drew received consecutive baskets by seniors Leon Thomas and Craig Clemente to trim the Stevens lead to 41-36 with 11:13 to play, but the Ducks answered with nine straight points to push the lead up to 14 points. Sophomore guard Floyd Morris (East Windsor, N.J./Peddie School), junior guard Ryan Kander (Belle Harbor, N.Y./Xaverian) and Williams had three points apiece. Drew never got within eight points the rest of the way.

Drew jumped out to a seven-point lead in the first half. A three-point play by Thomas put the Rangers ahead 19-12 with 8:52 left in the half. Stevens scored eight straight points over the next 3:22 to take its first lead, 20-19.

Thomas and freshman David Cramer had 12 points and seven rebounds apiece to lead Drew. Freshman Joseph Ayodele (Tempe, Ariz./Marcos de Niza) added nine points, seven rebounds and four blocks for Stevens.

The Ducks are back in action on Monday, January 3, when they host CCNY in a 6 p.m. game at the Canavan Arena.
