Lycoming 71, New Jersey City 55

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — The Lycoming College men’s basketball team hosted New Jersey City University, Wednesday evening, for a non-conference contest. The game was a rematch of last season’s second round NCAA playoff tilt in which the Gothic Knights eliminated the Warriors from the post-season. Lycoming enacted some measure of revenge, this evening, defeating New Jersey City 71-55. The Warriors improve to 6-0 on the season, while the Gothic Knights fall to 4-3.

Lycoming scored the game’s first seven points, but New Jersey City was able to keep the game tight for a while trailing just 23-18 with six minutes to play in the first half. The Warriors, however, outscored the Gothic Knights 15-6 the rest of the period and went to the locker room leading 38-24.

New Jersey City scored the first eight points of the second half to pull within six, but it was all Lycoming after that. Jonathan Pribble hit a three-pointer for the Warriors’ first points of the half and sparked a 12-0 run that gave the home team a 50-32 lead with 13 minutes to play. Lycoming’s advantage grew to as many as 25 before cruising to a 16-point victory.

Pribble was the Warriors leading scorer with 22 points. Kevin Morris added 18 markers, including four three-pointers. Shaun Morris contributed nine assists – moving into second all-time for career assists at Lycoming. Patrick Baylor came off the bench to lead the team with seven rebounds.

The Gothic Knights were led by Javier Rodriguez with 18 points and eight rebounds. Devin Davis and Abraham Williams each added 13 points. Davis also grabbed eight rebounds.

The Warriors will play again on Saturday, December 11, when they travel to Susquehanna University for another non-conference game. Tip-off is at 1 p.m.
