The Gophers (4-1) started the game by connecting on six of their first eight shots and they assumed their first double-digit lead on a pair of free throws by Jermaine Saunders that made the score 15-5 just 5:24 into the contest. A three-point basket by Chad Lauer allowed the Crusaders (2-4) to get as close as 33-30 with 2:54 remaining before halftime, but a lay-up by Trevor Quinnand two free throws by Tony Posteraro bumped Goucher's advantage back up to 37-30 at the break.
In defeating Susquehanna for the third time in four all-time meetings, the Gophers led by as many as 19 points in the second half.
James Russo captured scoring honors for Goucher as he landed five shots from three-point range on the way to a 17-point total. Jonathan Garritt added 15 points.
Also scoring in double figures for the Gophers were Garrett Smith with 13 points, Quinn with 12 and Kevin Green with 10.
Bubba Mills was the leading scorer and rebounder for Susquehanna with 19 points and eight boards.
Goucher wound up shooting 29-for-57 from the field (.509) and 9-of-17 from behind the three-point stripe (.529).
