The Saxons took a seven-point lead into halftime and never looked back. AU shot 55 percent from the floor including 41 percent from three-point range.
Sophomore forward Ryan Clemenson (Ovid, NY/South Seneca) was one of five Saxons to score in double figures, netting a team-high 22 points and grabbing six rebounds. Junior guard Quentin Bryant (Buffalo, NY/Seneca Vocational) had 21 points for AU, while sophomore center Dillon Stein (N. Huntington, PA/Norwin) chipped in with 16 points and seven rebounds.
Other Saxon scorers reaching double figures were sophomore guard Rob McCarter (Wooster, OH/Wooster) with 13 points and junior forward Ryan Hallett (Caledonia, NY/Caledonia-Mumford) finishing with ten. McCarter and Hallett also dished out five assists each for AU.
Geneseo was led by senior guard Joe Zera (Buffalo, NY/Canisius), who finished the game with 33 points and three assists. Sophomore guard Frank Tripi (Buffalo, NY/St. Joseph’s) added eight points for the Knights, and freshman guard Tarik Kitson (New York, NY/Grimsley (NC) pulled down six rebounds.
The Saxons will be in action next on Friday, Dec. 10, at 8 p.m., at Potsdam. Geneseo will play next on Friday, Dec. 10, at 8 p.m. at St. John Fisher.
