Macalester 78, St. Mary's (Minn.) 58

ST. PAUL, Minn. — Tom Conboy led five players in double figures with 17 points and Erik Jackson dished out a career-high 13 assists to lead Macalester (2-5, 1-2 MIAC) to a 20-point win in its home opener.

The game was tied 8-8 after four minutes of play before the Scots staged a 20-4 to go on top 28-12 and take the lead for good. St. Mary?s got back into things with a 24-10 run, turning a 19-point deficit into a five-point disadvantage at 58-53 with 8:56 to play in the game. The Scots, however, out-scored their guests 20-5 over the game?s final 8:35.

Dan Kloak pumped in 17 points and Brensley Haywood added 16 to pace St. Mary?s (0-5, 0-3 MIAC). Eric Lear added 11.

Joining Conboy in double figures for the Scots were Wes McFarland with 12 points to go along with eight rebounds, Jackson with 11, and Jesse Hollander and Brad Liddell with 10 each.

Macalester shot 56% from the field to end its four-game losing slide.
