Carleton 76, St. John's 49

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. — Senior forward Kyle Beste scored a season-high 26 points, reaching 1,000 career points in the process, as Carleton College defeated Saint John's University, 76-49, on Monday, Dec. 6, at Sexton Arena on the SJU campus in Collegeville, Minn. Sophomore guard Jake Phillips added 12 points and junior forward Dan Forkrud had 11 points for the Knights.

Junior post Paul Henrichs was the only SJU player in double figures with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Leading 45-39 with 11:41 left, Carleton went on a 31-10 run to end the game. SJU came within 11 at 56-45, but the Knights reeled off 15 unanswered points.

Carleton took control of the game early, jumping out to a 19-6 lead. SJU used a 13-2 run to tie the game at 26-26, but Carleton ripped off nine straight points to take a 35-29 halftime lead.

The Knights shot 54 percent from the floor and made 16-of-20 free throws while limiting the Johnnies to 38 percent shooting. SJU went 1-for-7 from the free-throw line and 4-for-17 from three-point range.
