Elms 62, Johnson State 43

CHICOPEE, Ma. — Elms College freshman forward Amy Kasala (Dalton, MA) recorded a collegiate career-high 20 points and 16 rebounds, and the Blazers used a decisive edge in offense rebounds to post a 62-43 win over Johnson State College in Sunday afternoon’s North Atlantic Conference (NAC) women’s basketball game at the Maguire Center.

The Blazers, who held a 27-12 advantage on the offensive glass, won their second conference game of the year to improve to 2-4 overall, 2-1 NAC. Johnson State fell to 0-5 overall, 0-2 NAC.

Junior guard Karen Prattico (Holyoke, MA) matched her collegiate career-high with 15 points in 20 minutes of action and freshman forward Alison O’Keefe (Newington, CT) added a collegiate career-best seven points in 17 minutes.

Junior forward Kaci Spear (Vergennes, VT) and junior guard Nicole Gokey (Cabot, VT) tallied 10 points apiece for the Badgers, who committed 32 turnovers and were held to 29.3-percent shooting from the field.

Elms College returns to conference play on Wednesday, December 8 at Lesley University. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
