12/04/04- After a 46-35 halftime lead, the University of the Ozarks Eagles never looked back as they took a 93-73 victory over the previously unbeaten Sul Ross Lobos.
Sully fought a tough battle on the floor hitting 38.6% of its shots from the field and 42.3% from 3-point range.
The Lobos saw a drastic decline in the second half at the free throw stripe making only 1 out of 10 total second half free throws compared with 7 out of 10 in the first half.
Sidney Hooper (Andrews) was leading scorer for the second straight game with 24 points. Hooper aided the Lobo parameter game by nailing 6 of 9 shots from 3-point land.
Rick Herrera (Alamogordo, NM) tallied 11 points for the day and lead Sul Ross in assists with four while freshman Robert Walker (La Marque) totaled 10 points against the Eagles.
Rockland Owens (Wharton) led rebounders with 8 boards.
The first season loss gives Sul Ross an overall record of 4-1 and 3-1 in the American Southwest Conference.
The Lobos will be home at the Gallego Center next Friday December 10 for action against Letourneau. Tip-off is 3:00 p.m.
