Muhlenberg 85, Washington College 64

ALLENTOWN, Pa. — Host Muhlenberg College topped visiting Washington College, 85-64, in the Centennial Conference men's basketball opener for both teams this afternoon in Allentown, PA. The Mules improved to 4-1 overall with the win, while the Shoremen slipped to 2-3 with the loss.

Washington used an 11-0 run to take a 20-9 lead with 11:20 remaining in the first, but the Mules outscored the Shoremen, 26-7, over the rest of the period to take the lead for good and bring a 35-27 advantage into the lockerroom.

The Shoremen twice cut the lead to two points early in the second half, but the Mules responded with an 11-0 run to push the lead to 55-42 with 11:27 remaining in the game. Muhlenberg led by at least eight points the rest of the way.

Four players reached double figures in scoring for the Mules, led by Jeff Stewart, who scored 15 points and brought down 11 rebounds. Jimmy O'Brien added 14 points and nine rebounds, while Ryan Bonda and Chase Licata tallied 13 points and 11 points, respectively.

Junior forward Jonathan Webb posted game-highs of 19 points and 14 rebounds to lead Washington. Senior guard Andrew Gentile added 14 points, while junior guard Kyle Stem added 10.

Muhlenberg shot 50% from the field, while holding the Shoremen to 37% shooting. The Mules also had a 45-35 advantage on the boards.
