Grinnell trailed 34-24 with 7:30 remaining in the first half, and then went on an incredible 25-0 run for a 49-34 advantage with one minute left before the half. The two teams traded baskets before the half, and Grinnell took a 51-36 halftime lead into the lockerroom.
In the second half it was all Pioneers, as Grinnell outscored Martin Luther 76-49 after the break on 16 second-half three-pointers. For the game, Grinnell made 23 of 70 three-point attempts and made 10 of 13 from the free-throw line. Walsh led all scorers with 19 points. He made a game-high five three-pointers and added five assists. Senior forward Cole Robertson scored 13 points, grabbed eight rebounds, and also had four steals and three blocks.
First-year guard Mike Schmidt tallied 14 points, while fellow first-year Lance Little chipped in with 12 points. First-year forward Aden Stinebrickner-Kauffman added 12 points, five rebounds and two blocks, while sophomore guard Trek Langenhan contributed 11 points. Junior Paul Nordlund had 10 points, five rebounds and four steals.
Grinnell played 21 players and caused 38 Martin Luther turnovers, while allowing their lowest opponent point total of the season.
