SUNY BROCKPORT MEN'S BASKETBALL LOSES TO POTSDAM
Bears win 81-61
BROCKPORT, N.Y. -- Eldon Harris (Albany) scored 20 points and three other players scored in double figures to lead Potsdam to an 81-61 men's basketball victory in SUNYAC action Saturday afternoon.
The Bears improved to 6-0 overall and 3-0 in the conference, while the Golden Eagles fell to 3-3 overall and 1-2 in the SUNYAC.
Christian Turner (Central Square) and Edane Barton (Spring Valley) added 11 points each while Barton had a game-high eight rebounds. Harris made 10 of 15 free throws for Potsdam, which had 16 steals on the day.
Ben Bellucci (Syracuse/Cicero North Syracuse) led the Golden Eagles with 14 points and five rebounds, while Brandon Williams (Rochester/Edison) scored 12 points and also had five rebounds. Brockport shot 38% for the game but was held to 33% in the second half, while the Bears shot 49% for the day and 59% in the second half.
Brockport had a 36-30 lead at the half, but Potsdam went on a 32-3 run in 9:22 to take a 62-39 lead with 10:38 remaining in the second half. Potsdam led by as many as 24 twice, as late as 9:34 at 66-42.
This was a matchup between last season's SUNYAC regular season champions (Brockport) and the SUNYAC tourney titlists (Potsdam).
Brockport is idle until next Saturday, December 11, when the Golden Eagles host St. Lawrence in a non-league game at 7 p.m.
