With an inspired effort, the Bulldogs rolled to a 74-64 victory over the Bluffton Beavers at the Merillat Center on Saturday. Adrian improved to 4-0 on the season, while Bluffton dropped to 3-3.
With the game tied at 33 late in the first half, the Bulldogs used a small run to head into halftime with a 38-34 lead. In the second half, Adrian pushed its lead to 12. After the Beavers got within 66-60 with 3:13 remaining, the Bulldogs hit timely shots and made key defensive stops to perserve the win.
Billy Collins Jr. led the Bulldogs' attack with 23 points, which included going 5-for-5 from 3-point land. Jeff Nokovich added 13 points and seven rebounds, while Brian Schaefer drained in 10 points and handed out four assists..
Mike Lewis and Earl Ingram each added seven rebounds for Adrian.
The Bulldogs will return to action on Wednesday, December 8 when they travel to Lenawee County rival and nationally ranked Siena Heights for the annual "Battle for the Milk Jug." Adrian has won the Jug the previous two season, including last year's dramatic 77-76 win at home. Prior to that, SHU had defeated the Bulldogs 15 consecutive times.
