BELLUCCI SCORES 25 IN HOME LOSS
Golden Eagles fall to Plattsburgh, 90-79
BROCKPORT, N.Y. -- Ben Bellucci (Syracuse/Cicero North Syracuse) scored 25 points with nine rebounds and Brandon Williams (Rochester/Edison) added 16 points but SUNY Brockport suffered a 90-79 defeat to Plattsburgh Friday night at Tuttle North Gymnasium.
The Cardinals improved to 3-1 overall and 1-0 in the SUNYAC while the Golden Eagles fell to 3-2 and 1-1 in the league.
Cameron Arterberry (Rochester/East) scored a career-high 29 points for Plattsburgh, while Jelani Simmons added 15 points and three assists for the victors. Arterberry was 12 of 12 from the line with seven rebounds. Plattsburgh shot 51% for the game, and had 11 steals in the contest. The Golden Eagles shot 48%. Plattsburgh had a 42-27 rebounding advantage on the night.
The teams were tied at 47-47 at halftime. But the Cardinals went on a 13-4 run for a 60-51 lead 6:58 into the second half. Plattsburgh led by as many as 14 points twice, and as late as 14 with 2:50 remaining at 79-65.
Charles Hepburn (Rochester/Greece Arcadia) and Bryan Boswell (Amherst/Sweet Home) added 11 points each for the Golden Eagles, and Boswell added six assists.
The Golden Eagles will host Potsdam at 4 p.m. while Plattsburgh plays tomorrow at Geneseo.
