Clark came out strong, taking a 26-16 lead with 7:48 left in the first half on a pair of free throws by sophomore guard Steve Prescod (Milton, Mass.). The Bantams battled back to score the final 14 points of the half, including a long three-pointer by senior co-captain guard John Halas (White Plains, N.Y.) as the buzzer sounded, for a 38-33 lead at intermission. Rhoten finished the half with 16 points.
The Colonels did not let up, taking back the lead at 42-40 just 2:34 into the second half, and led in the game as late as the 6:19 mark at 61-60 before a lay-up by Rhoten ignited a 15-5 run that put the game away in the last few minutes.
Halas finished with 15 points, seven rebounds, and five steals, while sophomore guard Kino Clarke (Brooklyn, N.Y.) added 10 points off the bench, and classmate Patrick Hasiuk (Enfield, Conn.) paced Trinity with eight assists. Junior co-captain forward Michael Mohrin (Greenwich, Conn.) paced Curry with 18 points and five boards, while sophomore guard Tim Jones (Brookline, Mass.) had 16 points and five assists.
