The Seahawks claimed a 38-25 advantage at halftime, thanks in large part to junior guard Ben Stewart who scored 19 points in the opening stanza. Stewart connected on 6-of-10 form the field, including 5-of-6 from behind the arc in the first 20 minutes of play.
The Saints answered in the second half and outscored the Seahawks by the same 38-25 margin. Sophomore guard Pooyan Rahimi led the second half surge for the Saints with ten points with senior forward Kip McCoy adding eight points in the second half.
The Seahawks had the last possession of regulation, but Stewart had a contested lay up rim out at the buzzer and the game proceeded into the overtime period. In overtime, Jordan stepped up with two huge three-point field goals to provide some separation from the Saints and give the Seahawks the nine-point victory.
Stewart scored a game-high 26 points for the Seahawks and also collected a game-high six steals. Jordan added his 21 points, while senior forward Jeffrey Turner added 16 points and a team-high eight rebounds before fouling out of the contest in the overtime period. Sophomore guard Dan Engelstad was the fourth Seahawk in double figures on the evening with ten points and a game-high tying six assists.
For the Saints, Rahimi and McCoy both finished with 15 points with McCoy also grabbing nine rebounds. Senior forward Ed Carrai recorded a double-double on the evening with 12 points and a game-high ten rebounds. Junior guard Rick Palmer was the fourth Marymount player to reach double figures with ten points and a game-high tying six assists.
The Seahawks (2-2, 1-0 CAC) will return to action on Friday, December 1, when they travel to Mary Washington for another conference contest. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. and will follow the women's contest that is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
