Rowan, which has won the last five games in the series and 47 of the last 51, improves to 2-2 overall and 1-1 in the NJAC. Rutgers-Camden falls to 0-4 and 0-2.
The Profs never trailed in the game, although the score was tied at 2-2 and 4-4. Rowan broke that last tie with an eight-point run to make it 12-4, and the closest the Scarlet Raptors got after that was a 16-13 deficit.
Cochrane added a game-high six assists to his 21 points, while guard/forward Tim Bowser (Millville, NJ/Millville) and guard Bob Weir (Delran, NJ/Holy Cross) each notched 16 points for the Profs, who have won two games in the last three days.
Freshman Matt Byrnes (Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) collected 15 points and a game-high six rebounds for the Profs, who held a 33-32 edge off the boards. Rowan also placed freshman Mike McCarthy (Glenolden, PA/Interboro) in double figures with 12 points.
For Rutgers-Camden, senior guard Tyrone Rucker (Pennsauken, NJ/Pennsauken) had 16 points and sophomore Dane Nicholson (Pleasantville, NJ/Pleasantville) added 12.
Rowan shot 31-for-56 (55.4 percent) from the floor, while Rutgers-Camden went 23-for-53 (43.4).
Rutgers-Camden returns to action Saturday, Dec. 4, with a 3 p.m. NJAC game at Ramapo College.
Rowan hosts the Heritage’s Dairy Stores Classic Friday and Saturday. The Profs play their first game Friday at 8 p.m. against Valley Forge Christian, following a 6 p.m. game between Philadelphia Biblical University and Lincoln University.
