The win improved the Yellow Jackets to 1-2 overall and 1-0 in the ODAC. The Hornets dropped to 2-4 on the season and 0-1 in the conference.
After a slow start, Randolph-Macon ended up leading by as many as 21 points in the first half. That proved to be the halftime margin, as the Yellow Jackets took a 42-21 advantage into the locker room.
Things got sloppy in the second half. The biggest lead for Randolph-Macon was 23 points, 53-30 with 12:00 remaining. The Hornets made a comeback attempt, and reduced the deficit to eight points, 67-59, late in the contest. But that was as close as Lynchburg would get.
For Randolph-Macon, following the performances by Wansley, Hawley, and Moyer, sophomore guard Adam Krovic contributed with eight points. Junior guard Patrick Gill had seven points and a game-high six assists.
Lynchburg was led by sophomore guard Pete Manos and junior guard Matt Sweeney, who each scored 13 points. Senior guard Todd Crown added eight points.
