The Saxons (3-1, 0-0 Empire 8) took a 19-point lead into halftime, shooting 56 percent from the field and 43 percent from three-point range. They came out strong in the second half and didn’t look back, finishing with five guys scoring in double figures.
Junior guard Quentin Bryant (Buffalo/Seneca Vocational) led the Saxons for the second straight game ending the night two assists shy of a triple-double. Bryant hit 54 percent of his field goals and finished the game with 41 points, ten rebounds and eight assists. Sophomore center Dillon Stein (N. Huntington, PA/Norwin) recorded his third double double in four games with 17 points and ten boards.
Also scoring in double figures for the Saxons were freshman guard Garlan Patt (Nelson, PA/Elkland Area) with 14, junior forward Ryan Hallett (Caledonia/Caledonia-Mumford) with 12 and sophomore guard Rob McCarter (Wooster, OH/Wooster) finished with 11. McCarter and junior guard Chris Lemasters (Mansfield, PA/Mansfield) dished out six and five assists respectively for AU.
Sophomore guard Casey McCloskey (Erie, PA/Cathedral Prep) had a team high 22 points for Allegheny (2-3), while freshman guard Justin Schmitt (Delmont, PA/Franklin Regional) and junior forward Matt Majzlik (Monaca, PA/Hopewell) had 12 points each for the Gators.
The Alfred University men’s basketball team will be in action next on Saturday, Dec. 4, at 7 p.m. in Cortland.
