OBERLIN, Ohio — Visiting Allegheny College (7-1, 3-0 North Coast Athletic Conference) utilized runs of 10-0 and 22-8 to defeat Oberlin (4-5, 0-2 NCAC) in women's basketball action tonight at Philips Gymnasium, 60-44. Sophomore Alyssa Clark netted a team-high 12 points and dished out four assists for the Yeowomen, but they weren't able to rally back from a 27-31 half-time deficit.

Oberlin had a strong start tonight, taking a 16-13 lead off a layup by first-year Monica Zell with 10:07 remaining in the opening period. Allegheny responded with a 10-0 run, though, jumping ahead 23-16 off three points from senior Becca Gasiewicz and taking a four-point lead into the intermission.

In the second half, the Yeowomen got to within one at 34-35 courtesy of a three-pointer from Clark and an assist from Zell; however, the Gators put together another impressive run, out-scoring the hosts 25-10 the rest of the way to earn the 60-44 NCAC win.

Junior forward Roneisha Kinney had a strong game for Head Coach Christa Champion, scoring 10 points and grabbing a game-high nine rebounds. Senior captain Jessie Oram tallied 10 points, while Zell chipped in seven.

Allegheny was paced by Gasiewicz's game-high 14 points and five rebounds. Three other Gators reached double figures in scoring, led by senior Katie Kestler, who netted 12 points off a pair of treys and also snagged seven rebounds and dished out four assists.

The Gators out-rebounded Oberlin 47-34 and notched 16 fast-break points. Additionally, Allegheny had 25 points off the bench this evening.

Oberlin will return to action on January 5 in a NCAC contest at Ohio Wesleyan. The showdown with the Battling Bishops is slated to begin at 7:30 p.m.
