Mount Saint Mary College and King’s College will play for the 19th Annual Marymount Tip-off Classic championship on Sunday at 3:30 pm. Mount Saint Mary held off Marymount 59-53 in one semi-final game and King’s beat Richard Stockton, 46-39.
In the Marymount-Mount Saint Mary semi-final, the visitors led 34-23 at the half. Marymount chipped away at the lead until the 6:20 mark when Kacee Grogan (Cincinnati, OH) hit a layup to give Marymount a 48-47 lead. They increased it to 51-47 with just under five minutes to go in the game. But the Blue Knights went on a 10-2 run to retake a four-point lead at 57-53 with 2:09 to go.
The Blue Knights had three players with 12 points each – Annie Cossolini (Fanwood, NJ), Chantel Anthony (Middletown, NY) and Kelly McCourt (West Milford, NY). Anthony and Lawson each also had six rebounds and four assists.
The Saints were led by Tara Eddy (Vienna, VA) with a game-high 14 points. She also had five rebounds, four assists and four steals. Grogan added 10 points and five rebounds.
Mount Saint Mary will play in the championship game against King’s College at 3:30 pm on Sunday. Marymount will face Richard Stockton in the third place game at 1:30 pm.
