HAVERFORD, Pa. — Top-seeded Mount Holyoke began its quest for a fifth straight Seven Sisters Women's Basketball Tournament title Friday afternoon with a 49-41 victory over eighth-seeded Bryn Mawr. Mount Holyoke College senior guard Joeanna Silvey and freshman forward Jessica Olson each posted double-double performances in the win.MACC Albright Lions

The Owls started the contest leading 8-4 6:14 into the first half. The Lyons were able to overcome the early deficit and took a 10-9 lead with 10:55 remaining in the half after two made free throws by freshman Jess Olson. Bryn Mawr went back up by five with the score at 18-13 with 5:57 left in the half.
Mount Holyoke engineered an 11-0 run over the next 2:45 to take its largest lead of the half at 24-18.The Owls retaliated with a 6-2 run of their own, as the half closed out with Mount Holyoke leading 26-24.
The two teams battled back and forth for much of the second half. A run late in the second half, highlighted by a three-point basket by MHC junior Marisa Barone, helped carry the Lyons to victory.
Silvey tallied a game-high 17 points along with 12 rebounds, while Olson had 10 points and a game-high 14 rebounds for the Lyons. Senior guard Angela Astuccio also paced the MHC offense, chipping in 10 points in the victory.
Mount Holyoke will face the winner of the fourth-seeded Vassar and fifth-seeded Wellesley game on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
