Gallaudet 72, Washington College 70

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Michael DeCorso hit a three-pointer to force overtime with 1.2 seconds left and visiting New York University outscored the University of Rochester, 13-4, in the extra session to post a 70-61 victory.

The Violets, ranked 20th in Division III, improved to 11-1 overall, 1-1 in the University Athletic Association. Rochester, which upended No. 23 Brandeis Friday night, is 8-3 overall, 2-1 in the UAA.

NYU went ahead for good with 1:20 left in overtime on a three-point play by Daniel Falcon. He sank a jumper in the post, then added a free throw after a foul by Rochester’s Jon Onyiriuka. Charlie Parker hit a jumper with 33 seconds left and the Violets added four free throws in the final 12 seconds.

Jason Boone led NYU with 26 points. He added nine rebounds, three assists, and one block. Boone hit 11 of 12 from the floor. DeCorso scored 15 points. He missed a three-point shot to begin overtime and fouled out with 3:36 remaining. Falcon added 13 points and 12 rebounds, his eighth double-double of the season. He also blocked five shots.

Onyiriuka scored 15 for the Yellowjackets and grabbed 11 rebounds. Tim Brackney had 12 points and Mike Chmielowiec added 11.

Rochester led, 28-19, at halftime. The Yellowjackets shot 41 percent from the floor, held NYU to 31 percent, and scored 11 points off seven NYU giveaways.

NYU hit nine of its first 10 from the floor in the second half and roared back. DeCorso scored eight points, including a pair of three-pointers, as part of a 14-4 run that pulled NYU within 40-39 nine minutes into the half.

Boone’s layup cut it to one for the fourth time in the half (48-47, 5:40 left). Rochester used one free throw from Jeff Juron and Brackney’s third three-pointer of the game to build the lead back to five within 47 seconds. Boone’s driving dunk got it back to two, 54-52, with 3:29 left. Juron hit a three-pointer from right wing for a 57-52 lead with 2:18 remaining. He made a layup from Parker with 44 seconds left (57-54).

Rochester turned the ball over with 6.6 seconds left. The Violets moved to midcourt and called time with 0:04.2 left. From in front of his own bench, Parker inbounded crosscourt to DeCorso who connected from 24 feet.
