ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Host University of Rochester produced its fourth 20-win season in the last five years as the Yellowjackets defeated Carnegie Mellon, 72-57, at the Louis Alexander Palestra here today.

Rochester finished the regular season at 20-5 overall, 9-5 in the University Athletic Association. The Yellowjackets tied Brandeis University for third place in the UAA standings.

Danielle Muller scored a game-high 17 points for Rochester. She added seven rebounds in 27 minutes. Alex Porter had 12 points and nine rebounds in 20 minutes. Julie Marriott scored 10 points, grabbed six boards, had four assists, and three of Rochester’s 16 steals.

Carnegie Mellon finished the season at 8-17, 2-12 in the UAA. Leah Feola scored 14 points for CMU and Ashley Mazziotta had 10.

Rochester scored 31 points off 24 CMU turnovers. The Yellowjackets outscored the Tartans, 34-12 in the paint. Emily Bango had five steals, six assists, six rebounds, and nine points for Rochester.

Carnegie took advantage of a sluggish start by the Yellowjackets. The Tartans scored eight of the first 10 points. CMU maintained a small lead for most of the first half until Rochester went on a 11-2 run in the last four minutes for a 35-28 lead at the half. Marlena Fisher had five points in the spurt. Muller and Jessica Mastronardi hit three-point goals.

After CMU opened the second half with a three-pointer by Colleen Light, the Yellowjackets ran off 20 consecutive points with six players contributing. That pushed the edge to 55-31 with 11:31 left.
