The Devils (0-1) jumped out to a 13-11 lead with 12:58 left in the first half behind six points from freshman forward Danielle Michlovsky (Wind Gap, PA/Bethlehem Catholic). However NYU responded right away, going on a 17-0 run in the next 7:28 to take a 28-13 lead with 5:25 left to play in the first half. During the run, Ryba had eight points while Brown chipped in seven points.
NYU went in to halftime with a 44-22 lead and came out firing in the second half, outscoring the Devils 47-31 in the second stanza. The Violets shot 49.1 percent from the field (50 percent from three point land) and held a 50-34 edge in rebounds over FDU.
Michlovsky led the way for the Devils, scoring 12 points and grabbing six rebounds off the bench. Sophomore guard Emily Cerankowski (Easton, PA/Notre Dame) had nine points while senior guard Jessie Chalmers (Middletown, NJ/Middletown North) and freshman forward Kim Molaskey (Terryville, CT/Terryville) each had seven points.
The Devils return to action on Saturday, November 18, in the Consolation game of the Tip-Off Tournament against the loser of the game between Chestnut Hill and Alfred. Tip time is schedule for 6 pm.
