Middlebury 99, Green Mountain 69

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Megan Krebbeks hit a jumper with 1.9 seconds remaining to snap a 46-all tie and carry the University of Rochester to a 48-46 victory over Medaille College in women’s basketball here tonight.

Krebbeks scored a career high 18 points, hitting 9 of 19 from the floor. She was one of the few on target for either side. Rochester hit just 28.4% from the floor (21 of 74) and Medaille made 38.5% (20 of 52). Emily Lyons had 10 points for UR and Alex Porter collected 13 rebounds and three steals.

Amanda Baker had a double-double for the Mavericks with 12 points and 13 rebounds. Baker went over the 1,000-point career mark and now has 1,002 points. No one else hit double figures.

Medaille led by as much as 10 in the first half (24-14) and was up by five, 24-19, at the break. Baker scored eight straight points to push Medaille in front, 42-35, with 6:51 remaining.

The lead changed hands five times in the last 3:26, three times in the final minute. Krebbeks put UR (3-0, No. 14 in Div. III) ahead, 45-44, with 44 seconds left but Marisa Clark answered for Medaille 10 seconds later (46-45). Lyons sank one free throw with 22 seconds left to tie it.

Krebbeks hit the jumper following a Medaille turnover in the closing seconds. Medaille is 2-1 and ranked No. 24 in Division III.

UR beat the Mavericks, 57-44, in the second round of the NCAA Division III playoffs last season.
