Jon Onyiriuka had 18 points and 12 rebounds, his fourth double-double of the season. Mike Chmielowiec scored 16 points, while Jeff Juron contributed a dozen points.
Joe Canori led the Golden Flyers with 17 points, 14 in the second half. Corey McAdam had 14 points and seven assists.
Rochester improves to 9-3 overall. The Yellowjackets will play in the Chase semifinals on Friday at 6:15 pm against either St. John Fisher or RIT. The game will be held at Roberts Wesleyan College.
Nazareth will play in the 1:30 pm consolation game, also at Roberts on Friday.
Chmielowiec hit four three-pointes in the first eight minutes as the Yellowjackets jumped in front, 21-8. The shooting turned cold and Nazareth ran off an extended 15-3 run to pull within 24-23 with a minute left. The Golden Flyers had the ball in the front court when Uche Ndubizu picked off a pass, roared in for a dunk, and was fouled. He sank the free throw for a 27-23 lead. McAdam canned a two-pointer at the halftime buzzer to make it 27-25 at the break.
Both teams dueled evenly in the first three minutes of the second half. Rochester ran off a 9-0 spurt over 1:36 to take a 41-32 lead. Onyiriuka hit a hook shot, Ndubizu made a layup, Juron canned two free throws, and Tim Brackney drilled a three-pointer from right wing.
McAdam's trey later in the half got the Flyers within 45-41 before an Onyiriuka hook shot started a 6-0 run to rebuild the lead to 10. The Flyers did get it down to eight, 62-54, with 4:44 left before Rochester ran off eight in a row, four coming on an Onyiriuka dunk and a tip-in.
Onyiriuka had 14 of his 18 points in the second half. He added three blocked shots. Ndubizu had three steals and eight rebounds to accompany eight points.
Rochester hit 56% from the floor in the second half after a 38.5% performance in the first 20 minutes.
It was the second meeting of the year between the teams. Rochester defeated Nazareth, 74-71, in overtime in November.
