Indianola, Iowa — Simpson (13-7, 6-5 IIAC) held Luther (5-15, 3-8 IIAC) scoreless over the final 5:58 to defeat the Norse 66-53 Jan. 27 in Indianola. The Storm took a 31-29 lead into halftime. The first 14:02 of the second half featured seven ties and when Austin Bildstein made a pair of free throws at the 5:58 mark, the game was tied at 53. Simpson switched from a man-to-man defense to a zone which would force Luther miss its final eight shots of the game. Ryan Hittenmiller scored six of the final 13 points for the Storm as he posted a game high 27.

Hittenmiller went 10-of-17 from the field and 5-of-5 from the free throw line. He also grabbed six rebounds and made four steals. Jason Parkinson was the only other Simpson player in double figures with 10. Luther was led by Drew Devine who scored 22 and had nine rebounds. Bildstein scored 13 for the Norse.

Simpson resumes action Wednesday night at league leader Loras in an 8 p.m. tip.
