FARMINGDALE, N.Y. — Junior guard Peter Lipka (Shelton, Conn./Shelton) and junior forward Tom Canning (Oak Beach, N.Y./Babylon) led the Farmingdale State men's basketball team tonight, ending their four-game losing streak with a 64-60 win over Yeshiva University (12-7, 5-5). The Rams improve to 11-7, 7-4 in the Skyline with the conference victory.

Lipka led for Farmingdale with 20 points, including four three-pointers, while Canning finished with 18 points and seven rebounds. Freshman guard Shane Denully (Bronx, N.Y./Our Saviour Lutheran) had five assists.

Yeshiva came out in the first with a quick 11-point lead before a Rams 9-0 run brought the score to 13-11. The Maccabees brought the lead back to as much as six points, but Farmingdale tied it up with 7:11 remaining and then held a 39-32 lead at the half.

In the second, Yeshiva would not let the lead eclipse nine and used a 10 point run to take a one-point lead, 53-52, with 6:29 on the clock. A three-pointer by Farmingdale senior Terry Menefee (Montgomery, Ala./Shawnee Mission North (Ks.)) gave the Rams a two-point lead and 3-of-4 free throws in the final minute by Lipka and Denully would secure the victory.

The Maccabees were led by senior guard Ian Ribald (Dallas, Texas/Yavneh Academy) with 17 points and junior center Shuki Merlis (Atlanta, Ga./Yeshiva Atlanta) had15 points and eight rebounds.

Farmingdale will travel to Centenary on Saturday, February 3rd in Hackettstown, N.J. in a conference doubleheader with the women's team. The men's game is slated for 8:30 p.m.
