CLINTON, N.Y. — Harlee Wood '09 scored 15 points and grabbed seven rebounds to help lead Hamilton College to a 63-58 Liberty League win against visiting Union College at Scott Field House.

Zarrette Rogers '07 posted season-high totals of 14 points and seven boards for Hamilton (14-5 overall, 7-2 league). Dave Alston '10 came off the bench to score 10 points -- all in the second half. Tsakani Ngobeni '07 led the Continentals with eight rebounds, half of which were on the offensive glass. Hamilton owned a 45-28 advantage in rebounds.

Drew Desmarais '09 paced Union (10-10, 7-3) with 16 points and eight rebounds. Nick DiMaggio '10 added 11 points and three assists. Nick Ciresi '09 made 3 of 4 shots from three-point range and finished with 11 points.

The Continentals opened the game on a 12-2 run, but the Dutchmen clawed back to take a 25-23 lead on a DiMaggio three-pointer with 2:45 left in the half. Joe Mackey '07 made a running jumper with three seconds remaining to give Union a 33-31 advantage at the break.

The Dutchmen led by five at 42-37 early in the second half, but Hamilton scored 11 straight points to take a 48-42 lead with 9:56 remaining. Union went on a 6-0 run to forge the sixth tie of the contest with 6:34 left. However a three-pointer by Jay Simpson '10 put the Continentals up for good at 51-48 just 51 seconds later. An Alston three made the score 56-50 with 4:47 remaining and the Dutchmen didn't get closer than two points the rest of the game.

Hamilton -- now in second place in the league standings -- shot 41.8 percent (23-55) from the field. Union made just 34.6 percent (18-52) of its shots. The Dutchmen were able to stay in the game by going 16-for-21 at the free throw line. The Continentals were just 9 of 13 at the line.

Hamilton has won four straight and will travel to St. Lawrence University for another league game on Friday, Feb. 9. The league-leading Saints are one-half game ahead of the Continentals. Hamilton leads the 100-year-old series against Union with 73 wins and 69 losses.
