Scranton 76, Wilkes 66

Purchase, NY — Junior Cody Moffett’s (Brooklyn, N.Y.) 17 points led five Valiants in double-figures as the Manhattanville men’s basketball team scored 48 second half points and ran past the Maritime Privateers 80-55 Saturday afternoon at Kennedy Gym.

The Valiants had a five-point lead, 32-27, at the half, but the Valiant defense forced 26 turnovers and held the Privateers to 28 points in the second half to get the win and improve to 16-5 overall and 9-3 in the Skyline Conference.

Maritime came into the game with a limited seven-man roster and a 3-17 overall record, 2-9 Skyline record. The Privateers have not won since beating Centenary on January 20.

Moffett made 6-of-10 shots from the field and had seven rebounds to finish with 17 points and 3 assists, in just 27 minutes of action.

Manhattanville had three players with 11 points, including senior John DiBetta (Valhalla, N.Y.). DiBetta was a perfect 5-for-5 from the foul line, dished out three assists and pulled down four rebounds in only 23 minutes of play. Junior Donte Chisolm (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) finished up with 11 points, and led the team with four assists.

The Valiants got 39 bench points led by sophomore Justin Morris (West Hartford, Conn.), who came off the bench for the first time this season, and tallied 11 points on 4-for-7 shooting in a limited 18 minutes of play.

Sophomore Joe Cooke (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) came out on fire going 4-for-6 from the field in the second half and 2-for-2 from three-point land. The sophomore finished the game with 10 points and four rebounds in 13 minutes.

Michael Stolberg led the scoring for the Privateers finishing with 17 points and nine rebounds. Maritime shot 43.2% in the game but made just 8-of-21 first half-field goals.

Manhattanville (16-5) scored 32 points off turnovers, forcing Maritime to turn the ball over 31 times. The Valiants committed 19 turnovers of their own and the Privateers tallied seven points off turnovers.

Monday night, the Valiants (16-5) will play Skyline Conference opponent Yeshiva at 8 p.m. on the road.
