SCHENECTADY, NY — St. Lawrence led going into the second half 34-22, and ended up pulling out the victory over Union, 59-56 in a Liberty League women's basketball game at the Viniar Athletic Center Friday night. The Dutchwomen fell to 12-11 and 8-5 in the league while St. Lawrence improved to 22-2 and 12-1 in the Liberty League. The Saints were led by three players in the double figures for scoring, including 21 points from guard Jamie Wolff (Buffalo, NY/ Nardin Academy). Krystal Hammond (Clifton Park, NY/ Shenendehowa) led Union with her eighth double-double of the season with 16 points, 11 rebounds and four assists.

The Dutchwomen came back strong in the second half. In a span of just under three minutes, Union brought the lead from eight down to one. Michelle Rogers (Clarence, NY/ Clarence) sanked two in a row in the stretch, and ended the game with 12 points and four rebounds. After this stretch, Union held it close and tied it up with 0:50 left in the game. Kimberly Sikule (Westerlo, NY/ Berne-Knox-Westerlo) sank a jumper to bring the score to 56-58, and Wolff sealed the victory for the Saints with a final free throw with four seconds left in the game.

St. Lawerence controlled the first half with a solid lead over the Dutchwomen for the last 13 minutes of the half. Katie Palmer (Bourne, MA/ Falmouth Academy) ended the half with a layup, and finished up the game with 14 points, six rebounds, two assists and one steal.

Devon Ciliberto (New Paltz, NY/ New Paltz) kept Union in the game with nine points, seven rebounds and two assists. The Dutchwomen outshot the Saints in field goals 38.5% to 37.9% while the Saints had 42.1% to 18.2% in three-pointers. Union had a rebounding advantage of 42-29 and in turn an advantage of 21-9 in second chance points. St. Lawrence gave up 28 points in the paint to Union.

Union is back in action at home on Saturday, February 17 in a 2 p.m. Liberty League game against Clarkson.
