Maryville (Tenn.) 75, LaGrange 61

CLINTON, N.Y. — Harlee Wood '09 scored a career-high 21 points and Tsakani Ngobeni '07 added 20 to lead Hamilton College to a 79-76 non-league win against visiting Wesleyan University at Scott Field House on Dec. 5.

Wood scored all of his points in the second half as the Continentals (5-0 overall) erased a 36-33 halftime deficit. Ngobeni notched 16 of his 20 in the final 20 minutes.

The score was tied nine times in the second half alone, but Ngobeni gave Hamilton the lead for good at 77-76 on a jumper with 28 seconds left. After a Wesleyan miss, Wood grabbed the rebound and was fouled with four seconds remaining. He hit both free throws for the final three-point margin. The Cardinals missed a deep three-point attempt as time expired.

Ngobeni added eight rebounds, four assists and two blocked shots. Nick Jones '07 chipped in 11 points and six rebounds.

Wesleyan (2-4) was paced by Jimmy Shepherd '07, who poured in a game-high 23 points. Shepherd made five three-pointers, including one that gave the Cardinals a one-point lead at 76-75 with 37 seconds left. Nick Pelletier '08 dropped in 22 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Sean Collins '08 registered 12 points and seven boards. Gabe Gonzalez-Kreisberg '09 was a perfect 5-for-5 from the field and finished with 10 points.

The Continentals host Middlebury College on Saturday, Dec. 9, at 3 p.m. while Wesleyan travels to Emmanuel College on Thursday, Dec. 7.
