NEWBURGH, N.Y. — Despite the best efforts of senior guard Mike Hoyt (Florida, NY), the Blue Knights couldn’t keep up with Manhattanville in the second half and the Valiants went on to win, 92-74.

What was a six point game at halftime turned into a twenty-two point game at the ten minute mark of the second half. The Valiants used a high-pressure style of defense to force the Blue Knights into several costly turnovers as Mount Saint Mary was forced to play without the services of injured point guard Joe Hoyt (Florida, NY).

Hoyt came into the game as the nation’s leading scorer and did not disappoint the fans in attendance at the Kaplan Center. The senior scored 55 points, the third time he has eclipsed the 50 point mark in the last five games. He shot 67 % from the field and connected on seven three-pointers.

For the visiting Valiants, junior Dante Chisolm (Mount Vernon, NY) put in a double-double effort, finishing with 13 points and 10 assists. Junior Brian Fink (Queens, NY) and senior John DiBetta (Valhalla, NY) did the bulk of the scoring for Manhattanville, finishing with 24 and 19 points, respectively.

The Blue Knights drop to 7-13 overall and 4-7 in Skyline Conference play. The Valiants improve to 15-5 and 8-3 in the Skyline.
