ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Uche Ndubizu continued his fiery scoring streak with a career high 23 points to lead the University of Rochester to an 80-63 victory over visiting Hobart College at the Louis Alexander Palestra here tonight.

Ndubizu hit 11 of 13 from the floor and one of two from the line. He grabbed seven rebounds (five offensive), blocked one shot, and made two steals in 29 minutes. He led four Rochester players in double figures. Jon Onyiriuka scored 12 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, had two assists, and one block in 30 minutes. Tim Brackney scored 11 points and Brad Runco added 10.

John Grazioli led the Statesmen (1-4) with 21 points despite spending much of the game in foul trouble. Rob Genovese scored 14 points and Mike Manning added 13.

Rochester (6-1) has won five in a row. In the last three games, Nduzibu has scored 65 points and grabbed 30 rebounds.

The game was nip-and-tuck for the first 11 minutes. Rochester closed the first half with an 18-4 run over 8:44. Ndubizu and Dan Milbrand had four points each in the run. Brackney and Max Kaplan sank three-point field goals. It was 32-20 at halftime. Kaplan played a season’s high 29 minutes at the point with Rochester’s Jeff Juron in early foul trouble. He had five assists and two steals.

Brackney hit a three-pointer, then fed Milbrand for a jumper in the paint to extend the lead to 22, 52-30, with 12:47 left. Grazioli returned and scored 12 points in seven minutes as the Statesmen got as close as 13 in the final 90 seconds. Runco made six free throws in 25 seconds to help extend the lead.
