The Valiants led 49-41 with 14:42 left in the game, but the Bearcats went on a furious 30-10 run over the next eight minutes to go up 71-59 with 5:58 left.
Junior forward Myleka Garnett (Seaside, Calif./Seaside) scored 10 of her team-high 17 points during the game-busting run, including a go-ahead layup for a 51-49 lead with 12:48 left.
The Valiants climbed back in the final three minutes to get as close as 72-69 on a layup by Cyntrell Robinson (New Haven, Conn./Hill Regional Career), but Baruch responded with a layup by Chiresse Paradise (Chicago, III./Rich Central) and five-of-six free throws by Jody Trapp (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle) in the final 20 seconds to clinch the home victory.
The Bearcats defense forced 23 turnovers for 28 points, and the offense had a solid game in free-throws (19-for-21) and bench scoring (29-14).
Garnett finished with another double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds, while Paradise recorded 14 points, five rebounds, five assists, and two steals. Trapp rounded out the double-digit scorers with 12 points.
Robinson had an impressive game for the visiting Valiants (5-10, 3-3 Skyline) with 21 points, 15 rebounds, and two steals. Olivia Nastasi (Cold Spring, N.Y./Haldane) scored 14 points and nailed 4-for-4 from three-point range.
The Bearcats will return to action this Wednesday with a home conference game against the College of Staten Island. Tip-off in the ARC Arena is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
